Maintenance Lead Technician

Summary

The Maintenance Lead Technician is responsible for providing direction and guidance to the other technicians on his shift to meet maintenance requirements of the plant in a timely, efficient and safe manner.

Essential Functions

  • Promotes a safe working environment and safe work practices:
  • Communicates daily safety reminders to his crew.
  • Identifies and corrects or reports safety hazards in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to plant safety rules and demands the same of other technicians.
  • Sets the example toward good housekeeping in the shop and at the job site.
  • Ensures proper use of all required PPE by himself and his crew.
  • Administrative responsibilities
  • Ensures all paperwork is completed for all tasks performed on his shift.
  • Reviews completed work orders and other paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
  • Directs and assists the other technicians on his shift:
  • Ensures shift personnel perform up to PCC standards and values.
  • Informs the Superintendent of the concerns of the maintenance people on his shift.
  • Leads by example toward meeting expectations for safety, quality and thoroughness of work performed.
  • Provides technical assistance to the members of his crew.
  • Exploits every training opportunity to enhance the capabilities of his crew.
  • Ensures the effective use of maintenance resources:
  • Prioritizes daily tasks as determined by the Superintendent and/or production needs.
  • Reviews daily work assignments with crew members and ensures their full understanding.
  • Ensures the daily schedule is closely adhered to.
  • Responds to break-in work in a timely manner to minimize deviations to the schedule.
  • Matches personnel and skill sets to job requirements to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Ensures the proper use and care of all tools and equipment.
  • Communicates effectively:
  • Communicates daily with the Superintendent to help determine the needs and concerns of his crew.
  • Develops a strong relationship with operations supervisors on his shift.
  • Provides continuous feedback to his crew as to their performance, training status and adherence to safety requirements.
  • Provides accurate and thorough pass down of carry over work and equipment status to the oncoming Maintenance Lead.
  • Supports and promotes reliability:
  • Identifies and reports reliability issues directly to the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Takes the extra step to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Participates in discussions concerning equipment failures and possible solutions.
  • Recommends additions or modifications to Preventive Maintenance procedures.
  • Discusses reliability issues with his crew and their role in improving reliability.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Associate s Degree or better preferred, significant job related experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
  • Related experience in maintenance management, CMMS management, 5+ years of Preventative/Predictive Maintenance experience is essential with at least 10 years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
